ORIGIN: Zefiro S OCEAN's Pelog scale belongs to the Gamelan musical style, which is native to the islands of Bali and Java in Indonesia.
DESCRIPTION: this scale has a peculiar sound, suspended and mysterious like the depths of the oceans. The progression includes both a F#4 and a F#5, notes which don't belong to the C major diatonic scale. Plus, there's no mediant in the key of C (neither E or Eb are part of the tuning) so, theoretically, this scale is neither major nor minor (we decided to list it as "major" because we think it's closer to that mode).
MEANING OF THE NAME: the name Ocean is a clear reference to the origin of the scale used for this model: Bali and Java are islands of Southeast Asia, where the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean meet.
