G Mixolydian Scale
Key: G
Mode: major
Notes: G3 | D4 | F4 | G4 | A4 | B4 | C5 | D5 | E5 | F5 |
ORIGIN: Zefiro M AURUM's Mixolydian scale comes from one of the Harmonai (musical modes) of ancient Greece.
DESCRIPTION: This scale begins with a perfecth fifth, with a G3 followed by a D4. The configuration includes only natural notes and evokes the purity of gold. The minor seventh (F4 and F5) enriches the overall sound.
MEANING OF THE NAME: the names of the Greek musical modes correspond to the historical names of specific geographical areas of Asia Minor. In particular, the mode Mixolydian is named after the region of Lydia. In the city of Sardi, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Lydia, flowed the river Pàttolo, whose waters were rich in electrum, a natural alloy of gold and silver. Legend has it that King Midas plunged into the waters of the river to get rid of his wretched gift, making the river rich in gold sands. Aurum means "gold" in Latin.
